This section provides a summary of meetings, activities, and events that are being performed by Apex Oil Company, Inc., 212 Environmental, United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

QUARTERLY FLUID LEVEL GAUGING  212 Environmental will be conducting routine measurement of groundwater and petroleum hydrocarbon product levels within approximately 380 monitoring locations. Groundwater samples will also be collected from a few monitoring locations.

QUARTERLY EFFECTIVENESS MONITORING  212 Environmental will be conducting vapor screening at approximately 180 monitoring locations in the northern portions of the Village of Hartford to evaluate vapor migration and track the effectiveness of the soil vapor extraction system.

QUARTERLY IN-HOME MONITORING  212 Environmental will be conducting vapor screening within select structures in the northern portions of the Village of Hartford. 212 Environmental will contact certain residents to schedule a date and time for monitoring prior to the event.

COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUP MEETING   Time: 4:45 PM - 6:45 PM CT Location: Hartford Community Ctr.  The community focus group will meet to discuss ongoing cleanup activities within the Village of Hartford.

PILOT TESTING  212 Environmental will be conducting pilot testing activities including the installation of monitoring wells and geophysical test borings, which will be used to evaluate current subsurface conditions beneath RMA-11.

ROUTINE GROUNDWATER MONITORING  212 Environmental will be collecting groundwater samples from the five sentinel wells located between the Village of Hartford drinking water wells and the southern limits of petroleum hydrocarbons associated with historical releases beneath the northern portions of the Village of Hartford. Groundwater samples are collected from these five wells to demonstrate continued protection of the Village of Hartford drinking water from migration of petroleum related chemicals present in groundwater.

PILOT TESTING  212 Environmental will be conducting pilot testing activities including commencement of pilot testing of enhanced microbial degradation within RMA-11.

VILLAGE OF HARTFORD COMMUNITY FOCUS GROUP A community focus group was established by Apex Oil Company, Inc. in collaboration with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency during the Spring of 2015 to develop a plan for on-going engagement with community members in the Village of Hartford. The community focus group is made up of elected officials, educators, business owners, clergy, interested residents, regulatory agencies, and Apex Oil Company, Inc. representatives. The focus group members meet routinely to discuss issues of concern with respect to cleanup of historical releases of petroleum products including gasoline and diesel that remain beneath the northern portions of the Village of Hartford. We’ve created this website as a place where residents, business owners, and others interested in the cleanup of petroleum hydrocarbons beneath the northern portions of the Village of Hartford can come for more information.
